On 20 August, 1963, in accordance with the Government decision of the USSR from 9th May, 1963, in Kazakhstan was created Almaty Institute of National Economy (AINE), which played an enormous role in the decision of problem of preparation of economists of higher qualification for Republic. In those years laid the foundation for the scientific base and teaching system, for which well-known Narhoz was famous.

Invaluable role in the history of the university, made famous Kazakhstan scientists, including J.A.Aubakirov, R.R. Autov, B.A.Altynbaev, Z.O.Ashitov, Z.B.Balapanov, E.B.Bajbarakov, U.B.Bajmuratov, K.B.Berdaliev, K.A.Berdenova, M.E.Butin, G.N.Gamarnik, Z.O.Dairbekov, K.S.Djusembaev, A.M. Elemesova, O.K. Eskaraev, F.A.Zherebjatev, A.B.Zejnelgabdin, K.K.Iljasov, U.M.Iskakov, Z.O.Ihdanov, D.K.Kabdiev, R.A.Kamshibaev, U.K.Kesikbaev, K.K.Keulimzhaev, M.B.Kenzheguzin, I.L.Kim, N.K.Mamyrov, V.D.Melnikov, K.O.Okaev, V.K.Radostovets, S.S.Satubaldin, K.A.Sagadiev, I.S.Seilov, G.S.Sejtkasymov, S.D.Tankaev, K.A.Tultaev, M.S.Tonkopy, S.B.Timashevsky, T.T.Tulebaev, S.M.Tshaj, N.N.Hamitov, T.S.Shaukenbaev and others.

In the first years in AINE, there were three faculties with full-time and part-time forms of education: economic planning (PEF), Accounting and Economics (UEF) and       financial and credit (FKF).

Large research work was conducted in the institute From the first years, was carried out the Preparation of scientific and pedagogical staff. In 1964 in AINE has opened the postgraduate study for 10 specialties (full-time and part-time department). Since 1965 theoretical and scientifically-methodical conferences are conducted every year.

AINE team has actively promoted economic knowledge among the technical and other specialists of the republic conjunction with the economists’ preparation in the institute. For this purpose the University was created The Economic Graduate School, where everybody could pass educating without getting up from a workplace. Branches AINE in Tselinograd, Aktyubinsk, and Chimkent have been opened. Large role in scientific research team took direct contacts and cooperation with various industries and agriculture.

The institute had the opportunity to grow the material base in a great deal due to economic agreements with enterprises. Convenient hostels, sports complex, stadium, swimming pool, possibility to engage in amateur performances mugs have brought results. In 1967 and 1970 AINE came out the winner in All-Union competitions on the best organization of work, life and rest of students. In 1972 AINE was named best among the 46 universities of Republic and for achievements awarded with Red Banner of the Kazakhstan Communist Party of, Kazakh SSR Supreme Soviet Presidium, the Council of Ministers and Kazsovprof.

In 1974 by AINE began to function health and recreation resort "Youth". In 1977 the large circulation newspaper "for economic cadres" has started publish in the institute. The specialized faculty of in-plant training of economists was opened, and in 1978 new faculties were open - MOEI and ACS.

In 1991, in accordance with the decision of the Kazakhstan Republic Government the Almaty Institute of National Economy has transformed into Kazakh National Economic University.

In order of economists full-scale training and retraining accelerate relevant international standards, as well as their appropriate institutional and academic support, the President of Kazakhstan Republic, Nursultan Nazarbayev, published Decree "About transformation of the Kazakh State Economic University to the Kazakh State Management Academy" (KazGAU) on 25 February, 1993.

The new status and traditions in KazGAU allowed in a short time to learn new trends. The Academy was set up research centers - Center for Labor Market Studies and the Center of Marketing Research, Research Institute of the financial and banking management.

Status of the Academy allowed Kazgan tiered system of higher education to develop in-depth postgraduate education programs - master's degree, postgraduate and doctoral studies, which contributed to the convergence of the Kazakhstan system of training specialists, economists adopted in many developed countries.

In 1994 was opened the publishing house "Economy". From the same year, was launched active international cooperation: 38 teachers, 5 PhD students, 144 students were trained abroad under the various programs. In 1995 has begun realization of project TACIS on improvement of forms and techniques of training in KazGAU.

In 1996 issued the first number of scientific magazine       "KazGAU Bulletin", took place the first graduation of master's degree. Years later in Aktobe and Shymkent have established regional educational KazGAU centers. At the same time in the Academy formed the Computer Technology Center.

In 1999 in Astana opened a branch of KazGAU - Economic and Finance Institute (now KazEU subsidiary - Kazakh University of Economy, Finance and International Trade.)

On 23 Mays, 2000, by RK Government Decision № 775 to university has been appropriated the name of Turar Ryskulov, the outstanding son of the Kazakh people, visible state, political and the public figure, scientist-economist.

Government Resolution of April 2, 2001 higher educational institution was reorganized into Joint Stock Company "Kazakh Economic University" where the bulk of the shares owned by the state.

In 2002 in Talgar opened KazEU college-high school. In the same year T. Ryskulov monument and museum of his name was open in the university.

In 2002, 2 October, Nursultan Abishevich Nazarbayev, the President of Kazakhstan Republic, visited the University. The leader of Republic took part in opening of the Kazakhstan-Japan Center of Human Resource Development in KazEU, met with teachers and students of the university.

In 2002 - CJSC «T. Ryskulov KazEU" was transformed into JSC "T. Ryskulov KazEU".

2003 - Jointly with the National Bank of RK opened by Pg Postgraduate MBA program.

From 2003-2004 school year by decision of the Education and Science Ministry in the University as a leading economic institute has been implemented a credit education technology.

2003 - Opened a military department T. Ryskulov KazEU.

In November 2005, the University implemented Quality Management System (QMS), which is recognized as complying ISO 9001:2000 and certified by Certification Association "Russian Register" and International Certification Network IQNet.

2005 - Created the Testing Center with the computer hall, equipped by modern equipment.

Since 2005 in KazEU realized various international educational programs with leading universities of Russia. Moscow State University opened retraining program and training program by Peoples' Friendship University of jurisprudence. Realization of programs of the academic, scientific and cultural exchanges with universities of the European Union countries and South Korea has begun.

Since May, 2006 in KazEU has been underway the annual international scientific forum «Ryskulov's Readings» in which take part leading scientists and experts from educational centers of science from near and far abroad.

Since January 2006 in the KazEU has become an annual Republican Educational-Methodical Conference: "Continuous economic education: modernization of educating and methodical providing".

In 2006 opened departments with English language teaching on the faculties of Finances and Account, Economy, Management.

Was opened Virtual Reading Room - a joint project of KazEU and the Russian State Library (Moscow).

Was opened the Kazakh-Korean Center Cooperation in Education.

2006 - Completed the reconstruction of the sports complex. KazEU Stadium received the Certificate of FIFA to host international football matches.

In December 2006, discovered an experimental doctorate educational program, which prepares Philosophy Doctors (Ph.D.) in Economics and Information Systems (in economics).

2007 – In KazEU opened program МВА the Moscow State University.

KazEU branch office in Astana converted into subsidiary - Kazakh University of Economy, Finance and Global Trade (KazUEFGT).

KazEU became a member of the Eurasian Association of Universities, a member of the Association of Institutions of Education «Education Network» and a member of the Russian Association of Business Education (RABE).

Was opened a multimedia class - a joint project KazEU and Social Seimar Found.

In 2007 KazEU entered into rising educational consortium of universities and the European Union in Kazakhstan, carrying out the project «Erasmus Mundus. Lot 8. - Kazakhstan».

The University also participates in the project "Creation of interface interaction," The University - Entrepreneurship, "" implemented within the framework of EU TEMPUS.

Since 2008 in the KazEU launched the academic program of students mobility from the University of Bamberg Otto-Friedrich (Germany).

In 2008 the University successfully passed the state certification of the Education and Science Ministry under the new requirements and program.

In 2008, signed a Memorandum between KazEU and Central University of Finance and Economics (China) and the University of International Business and Economics (China) for the implementation of exchange programs for students by short and medium educational modules, cultural exchange programs and students’ language training.

2008 - Signed a Memorandum of Cooperation with the Kirghiz economic university in the joint development and educational implementation, research programs and projects.

2008 - signed a Memorandum with Business School of Albert University (Canada) to implement the student exchange program, bachelor's and master's programs.

In 2008-2009 school year, students, undergraduates, doctoral students and faculty was actively carried out Participation in the international project EU Erasmus Mundus Lot 9.

2008 - in KazEU jointly with the Russian IISH, launched the project "KazEU - Elex» to create a single e-education, information, communication, administrative and management environment of University.

In October 2008, KazEU took part in the Fist Education Week with Shanghai Cooperation Organization nation-members, where at the special Conference discussed prospects of project creation of SCO Network University. 

Since 2008 in KazEU under development research project Republican State Enterprise "Centre for Financial Violations Research" by the Accounts Committee on Control over Execution of Republican Budget.

From 2008-2009 school year opened up a stable, focused on medium-and long-term period partnerships with partners - organizations from the USA, working in higher education: the Education-2 organization (E-2), the «Blue Bridge International» company, Global Education Organization.

In 2008, in KazEU opened Internet Video Room (a joint project KazEU and JICA)

2008 - Created           the Distance Teaching Center

In October 2008, at KazEU opened an International Business School IBS.

In November 2008, the rector of KazEU A.A. Abishev took part in INNOBIZ GLOBAL FORUM - 2008 (South Korea), "Sustainable development in crisis conditions."

In January 2009, established the KazEU International Educational Programs Center. Groups with the English language training derived from the faculties structure and reorganized into the department of English language learning.

In February 2009, at KazEU opened the International Business School Linguistic Centre.

February 17, 2009 in St. Petersburg signed a framework Agreement of Cooperation in education, science and culture between KazEU and Saint Petersburg State University of Information Technologies, Mechanics and Optics (SPbSU ITMO), assumes implementation from 2009-2010 school year of joint educational projects for the preparation of bachelors and masters in the field of "Business Informatics", "Information Systems", "Computer Science and Software", the realization of joint projects in the field of IT, information systems in economics, etc.

February 28, 2009 KazEU and International Business School at KazEU held Diploma Awards Ceremony to the First Graduation MBA degree from Lomonosov Moscow State University.

In 2009 KazEU became a member of the project 144747-TEMPUS-2008-FR-JPCR «Masters for engineers and economists in the area of Energy and Sustainable Development" (2008-4739).

2009 - jointly with the Central Finance and Economics University (China) signed a bilateral agreements about joint implementation the MBA program (dual diploma program) and about creation of the Kazakhstan-China Resource Center on the basis of the International Business School at Ryskulov KazEU. With International Business and Economics University signed a Memorandum of Understanding.

In March 2009, in KazEU was opened the Center of spiritual, moral and patriotic upbringing "Ak-Sunkar", dated to 20th anniversary of "Kazakh and Russian languages" department formation.

In March-April 2009 in T. Ryskulov KazEU passed an educational module for students of the English language learning. For lecturing and carrying out of business cases had been invited professors and leading teachers of the Washington University and Seattle University members of the international organization Education 2.

In April 2009, in T. Ryskulov KazEU were held the act lecture "The Current Crisis Nature", "Panel Discussion" about "A way out of crisis" well-known economist, Economic Analysis Institute President (Russia), for Global Liberty and Prosperity Center Senior at the Cato Institute (USA), PhD, Professor A.N. Illarionov.

May 14, 2009 in T. Ryskulov KazEU held a presentation of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the Department of Middle East and Central Asia, "Economic development prospects in the region for 2009, Caucasus Countries and Central Asia", presented by Mr. Tim Cullen the head of the IMF mission in Kazakhstan.

In May 2009, during the II-d Education Week of States- SCO members in Moscow , upon the MES RK recommendations KazEU University was approved as Consortium member in the project "University of the SCO" together with another five leading Universities in Kazakhstan, 16 Russian Universities, 11 Universities in China, 10 Kyrgyzstan Universities and four universities in Tajikistan.

In June 2009, T. Ryskulov KazEU licensed by the MINISTRY OF EDUCATION AND SCIENCE OF KAZAKHSTAN REPUBLIC dated by July 01, 2009, on 9 new professions Magistracy programs.

In the 2008-2009 academic year KazEU made a pacts, agreements and cooperation memorandums with the following universities and research-educational centers: Tashkent State University of Economics, Steinbeis-Transfer-Institute Globalization of Business Et Technology Development (Germany), Kyrgyz Economic University, Hoseo University (South Korea), Ltd. "Professional Development Institute" (Russia), Central University of Finance and Economics (China), International University of Business and Economics (China), ANCO "Institute of Economics and Crisis Management" (Russia), and Saint Petersburg State University of Information Technologies, Mechanics and Optics.

In February 2010, KazEU held the Diplomas Graduation Ceremony to the first class of graduates of Peoples' Friendship University of Russia.

In 2010, KazEU International Business School accepted as a member of the European Council of Business Education (ECBE).

In March 2010, KazEU held the Diplomas Graduation Ceremony to the first class of graduates of PhD program.

April 2010 - in the Center of International Educational Programs KazEU passed the foreign educational module of the International Business School - Budapest, which based on the program by KazEU double diploma - Oxford Brooks University.

 On 19-21 May 2010 was the Anniversary of the International Scientific Forum V «Ryskulov's Readings» in KazEU, in which Edmund Phelps (USA) the Nobel laureate in economics 2006 of "The analysis of intertemporal exchange in macroeconomic policy" took part.

July 2010 - the Diploma Graduation Ceremony to the first Bachelor graduates by the Department with the English language learning, as well as the first issue of dual diploma program, conducted jointly with the University of Gangnam (South Korea) and KazEU.

September 17, 2010 T. Ryskulov Kazakh Economic University entered into the European Educational Space, by having signing the Great Charter of Universities («Magna Charta Universitatum»).

In September, 2010 has opened the Kazakh-Swiss MBA program "International Finance and Banking", developed by KazEU International Business School and the Swiss Business School (SBS).

On September, 29th, 2010 signed the Memorandum of Understanding and Cooperation between KazEU and JSC " NWF"Samruk-Kazyna"

On November, 19th, 2010 signed the Memorandum of Cooperation and Students' Exchange between KazEU and the European School of Economy (ESE).

December 15, 2010 - Diploma Graduation Ceremony to graduates of Peoples' Friendship University program.

January 20, 2011 - Opening of International MBA Double Diploma program "Strategic Management", developed by the International Business School at KazEU together with the Moscow International Higher Business School "MIRBIS"

On February, 25th, 2011 - signed the Memorandum of cooperation between KazEU and Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST) about implementation of innovative research programs in the "E-Government» and «Green economy» on the KazEU basis.

On March, 11th, 2011 - Diploma Awards Ceremony to the fifth Graduation MBA degree of Lomonosov Moscow State University and retraining programs "Economics and Management" graduates. To the first Alumni of dual diploma program realized by KazEU jointly with the University of Pierre Mendes France (Grenoble, France). Doctoral PhD programs awarding certificates - participants of the first ever joint KazEU educational module, implemented by the European School of Economics (Rome, Italy).

April 15, 2011 - Visit and lecture in KazEU by R.S. Greenberg - D.Sc.Economics, Professor, and Corresponding Member of Russian Academy of Sciences, Director of Economic Institute.

From April 25 to May 2, 2011 - Teachers of an international organization E2 Educational Services (USA) held in T. Ryskulov Kazakh Economic University educational module for students of the English language learning.

from 18 to 19 May 2011 - Conducted the First International Youth Science Forum "Science for Business"

June 28, 2011 - International Seminar "Green Economy and Sustainable Development". The book presentation translated in KazEU on Kazakh language by the President of the Campus-Seilersee University, doctor, Professor Ditrih Walter (Germany).

June 28, 2011 - Signing of the Treaty of Cooperation with KazEU and "BTA Bank" in the charity project "Scholarship of BTA."

In June 2011, based on the decision of the Directors' Board, JCS T. Ryskulov Kazakh Economic University (Minutes № 10 of 30.05.2011), and the order of 30.06.2011 № 11-06/227, according to Strategy of the International university competitiveness, realization of the program approach, and in order to optimize educational process organization in the new organizational structure of the University set out six faculties: "Finance", "Accounting and Statistics", "Economics and Management", "Engineering and Economics," "Social services and business", "International education programs."

On July, 7-8th, 2011 in KazEU passed a regional seminar for experts on higher education reforming “Strategic plans in higher education in Central Asia” in the framework of the TEMPUS Program.
